Ios 11 what's new iphone 6 s. iOS dark theme. Augmented reality AR

Apple Company On June 5, at the opening of WWDC 17, she announced a new version operating system iOS 11. Registered developers immediately received access to the first beta versions of firmware for mobile devices, participants in public testing will be able to try the new product until the end of the month, and the final release of iOS 11 is scheduled for autumn 2017.

In order not to keep you waiting, at iguides we have already installed a new version of the operating system on mobile devices and prepared a list of all changes in design, settings and functionality. Please note that this publication is about the first beta iOS versions 11, so all changes cannot be considered final. During testing, Apple may change the operation of some functions, their availability, and visual design.
Lock screen

At first glance, the lock screen remains unchanged, but something important still happened. For some reason, Apple decided to abandon the right-to-left stroke for notifications. This gesture used to be used for cleaning, but now it doesn't work. There is now only one way to hide a notification - click on it.

Notification Center

In a sense, the traditional Notification Center is no longer there. Apple has made the design of the top curtain indistinguishable from the lock screen; it houses the clock and current notifications, and with a stroke from bottom to top, a list of recent and past events opens.

Home screen

There is only one cosmetic change on the home screen - in the Dock panel the icons now do not have labels. This is logical, because there you place the most important and popular applications, which are easily recognized without accompanying text.

Control center

One of the most radical changes in terms of interface was the iOS 11 Control Center. The bottom curtain now represents one screen and does not require you to swipe to switch between system switches and the music player. Users can now add new buttons to Control Center for quick access to standard applications and change them at your discretion. Strong pressure on the player blocks, wireless connections, volume and screen brightness will allow you to increase their size and access more functions. Also appeared in the Control Center new feature- screen recording, which allows you to record in video format actions with the operating system, standard and third party applications. And the last new feature is the Do Not Disturb mode for drivers. Once activated, it automatically recognizes your driving and helps you avoid being distracted by calls, messages and notifications.

System indicators

Instead of round dots, signal quality cellular network is now displayed with a classic design - in the form of sticks of different heights. On the other hand, the geolocation icon is now always lit, can appear as an outline when there is no activity, and becomes opaque when applications access location data.

Animations

Minor changes affected the animation, however, the effects were not redesigned throughout the system, but only for some actions. For example, the multitasking panel now appears on the left side with a zoom, and it removes application cards a little differently. Also, when screen activation is enabled when the smartphone is lifted, the display lights up gradually - reminiscent of a gradient or wave.

Password entry screen

The design of the keyboard when entering passwords has changed slightly. The buttons became rectangular in shape with rounded corners instead of circles. However, when you unlock the device, the numeric keypad remains the same. Except that the font inside the circles has become thicker.

Keyboard

The standard keyboard has become more convenient for one-handed operation. If you hold the emoji button, the letter keys will move closer to your thumb. This will allow you to type on the go without the risk of dropping your smartphone or having to help yourself with your second hand.

Screenshots

Once you take a screenshot, a thumbnail will appear in the bottom left corner, and a series of screenshots will stack the images. Clicking on the thumbnail will launch an interface with editing tools that will allow you to make notes and add notes, save the result in the Photos application, share pictures and delete unsuccessful photos.

Changes to standard iOS 11 apps

Notes

In Notes, you can now scan documents using your smartphone camera, add handwritten notes using new tools directly onto the text, or insert a sketch as a picture.

Calendar

Siri is even better integrated with Calendar, Apple Maps now provides departure time calculations, and the app can suggest meeting places based on frequent visits to certain establishments.

IN iPhone camera there are new filters, and for editing live photos there are three effects: looping videos, “pendulum” and long exposure.

Calculator

The design of the Calculator application has completely changed, starting with the icon and ending with the interface itself.

This will not work in Russia yet, but you can take note: floor plans of many large airports and shopping centers around the world have appeared in Apple Maps. In addition, in the navigation mode, drivers will receive tips on speed limits and choosing the right lane.

Messages

The Messages app has a new interface. All add-ons - emoticons, stickers, etc. - are available in the pop-up application bar at the bottom of the screen. But the translations Apple Pay will not be available in iMessage yet; at the moment this feature is announced only for the USA.

Telephone

The fonts have become larger, the button to save the dialed number is now more visible, and deleting characters is located at the bottom of the screen, closer to the keyboard.

The new Files application will collect all documents. It’s convenient to work with them: there are tags, tags, favorites, section recent documents, and in addition, access to files on other devices and third-party cloud services.

In Wallet, the changes are purely aesthetic - cards now have a white background instead of a blur.

The watch companion app has two new watch faces: Siri and Kaleidoscope. They will become available after the update Apple Watch up to watchOS 4.0 beta. The difference in setting up new dials on a watch and a smartphone is that in the first case, only a few preset photos are available for the kaleidoscope, while in the second, you can use your own photos from the library.
Bluetooth (AirPods)

Owners of AirPods headphones have new options for controlling the accessory. If previously you could choose one of two actions when you touched the earphone - launch Siri or play/pause - now transitions to the previous and next track have been added. And most importantly, you can assign different commands to the right and left AirPods.

Command centre

In Control Center settings you can now add required applications for quick access, change their order and remove unnecessary shortcuts.

Basic - iPhone Storage

Now this section not only reports the amount of free and used memory on the device, but also gives recommendations on how to free it up. Users are advised to enable iCloud Photo Library, clear the album with recent deleted photos and enable message syncing via iCloud. In the list of applications there is an opportunity not only to delete a “heavy” game or program, but also to “download” it (the name of the function is clearly not final). In the second case, the application will be deleted from the device, but all data will be retained. If you install it later, the information will not be lost.

iTunes Store and App Store

There is a new option “Download unused software” (again, the name is clearly not final), which allows you to automatically remove applications and games that you have not used for a long time. In this case, all data will remain on the device so that after reinstalling the application it will return to normal operation.

There is a new separate option for emergency calls in Settings. There you can add numbers for emergency communications with one or more close people.

Accounts and passwords

In this section, you can view all saved usernames and passwords for sites and applications, as well as add and delete service accounts.

Messages

There is a new option that allows you to enable message synchronization via iCloud. If necessary, you can also activate forced synchronization there.

You can now take Live Photos during video calls, although the option is enabled by default. If you don’t like it, you’ll have to deactivate it in Settings.

In iOS 11 Camera, the QR code scanner is now active by default. Once you point it at the corresponding image, a banner with encoded information will appear at the top of the screen. However, this option can be disabled in Settings. And if you go to select the video format in the “Camera” settings, you will notice a significant reduction in the size of a minute of shooting - thanks to the use of the new codec, the videos will take up to two times less space on the device without compromising on quality.
App Store

The App Store in iOS 11 has been radically changed, and the mechanics of its operation have been completely rethought. For some applications, tips will appear, others will receive something like reviews from App Store employees, gameplay will be seen in games, users will be offered even more interesting selections, improved recommendations, and much more. It will take a long time to get used to, but the new App Store looks very interesting and promising.

One of the main changes in Apple Music It became possible to view popular tracks and playlists of friends. If you don’t want to share such details yourself, you can hide your musical preferences in your account settings and force other users to send you access requests.

For family accounts, it is now possible to use one tariff plan iCloud for everyone. Storage space for photos, videos, documents and files can be shared among members of a family group, rather than each individual paying for additional cloud storage.

Apple presented a new mobile operating system iOS system 11. Now anyone can install it on their own or ours.

To give you an incentive to download the test version, here is a list of the most interesting features:

1. New Control Center

What's new: All! The panel was completely redrawn and the operating logic was changed; now it is one screen instead of two. A long press opens a submenu even on older models without 3D Touch. Vertical volume sliders are more convenient than horizontal ones.

5. iOS Dark Theme

What's new: Of course, this is not exactly what we expected, but you can already use it. There was color inversion in iOS before, but now the prefix “smart” has been added to the feature.

When changing colors, wallpapers, icons and most other system elements are not inverted. This results in a pretty passable black design theme.

Where to look: you need to enable the option Smart color inversion on the way Settings – General – Accessibility – Keyboard shortcuts. Now triple tap Home buttons will quickly enable and disable the dark theme.

6. Record a screencast

Where to look: on the menu Settings – Control Center add a switch Screen Recording. After that, look for the button in the Control Center. The recordings are saved in the Photos application.

9. Narrow virtual keyboard

What's new: The updated input method will be useful to anyone who finds it difficult to hold their “shovel” with one hand. Now the keyboard can become narrower and move towards one of the edges of the screen.

Where to look: open virtual keyboard anywhere and hold down the symbol to switch languages, you will see icons for shifting keys.

These nine features are worth your attention, for the sake of some you can even put up with the glitches of the first beta of iOS 11 and go with the test version. You can read about other innovations and changes in iOS 11.

iOS has a 96% user satisfaction rate, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be updated with new features. According to tradition, WWDC is just the right time for this.

For the story about new version iOS, which received the number “11” this year, Tim Cook traditionally invited Craig Federighi to the stage, who spoke about all the innovations of iOS 11. And he began by talking about iMessage.

iMessage will now have improved synchronization between devices, and deleted messages will be deleted from all devices. That is, it will not happen that the message will be deleted on the iPhone, but will remain on the Mac. In this form, the application looks more logical and matches the Apple style. In addition, the internal applications section of iMessage will be updated.

Now Apple Pay will also support money transfers, and they will also be available via iMessage. Many have been waiting for this for a long time, and Apple has heard their requests.

Siri also received improvements in iOS 11. Apple continues to work not only on training its voice assistant, but also on its attractiveness from a voice point of view. Siri voice Now it sounds much more realistic, which is good news.

But, as was written above, Siri is not only getting prettier, but also getting smarter. Now its capabilities include text translation. You can ask her to translate a phrase into another language, and she will do it. However, for now only English, German, Chinese, French, Italian and Spanish are supported. Traditionally, there is no Russian at first. But Siri will now teach directly on the device. As Federige said, Apple has made Siri more private. The training will be synchronized with your other devices, maintaining the proper level of privacy. And thanks to Siri Kit, the assistant will be able to interact more closely not only with the system, but also with applications.

Since one trillion photos are taken annually on iOS devices, it was impossible not to work in this direction. That is why the changes also affected work with photos. Apple has introduced a new codec, HEVC, to replace JPEG, which will provide improved image quality while reducing the amount of space taken up by photos. But not only photos will now take up less space, 4K videos have also been worked on, and now they will be “lighter”.

The Photos app also received an update. The memory section is now powered by deep learning. Apparently, Apple has really set out to do serious work in this direction.

Not the first time Apple firmware makes changes to the Notification Center. They did not pass by iOS 11 either. Now the icons in it have really changed, and not just embellished.

It has happened many times that Apple did not do something right away, and then, when others did it, showed a similar solution, and company representatives described it from the stage as a breakthrough and fantastic. This is what happened this time with live photographs. Now they can be looped. Hello Boomerang!

“Maps” will also receive serious updates. Maps of shopping centers will now appear. True, for now this will be available in just a few cities, but over time the geography will be expanded, and perhaps this function will even reach Russia. In addition to shopping centers, the function will also be available at airports.

iOS 11 will feature a “do not disturb while driving” mode. The device screen will turn off so as not to distract the device owner while driving. Not a bad move from a traffic safety point of view. The phone will notify you not to use the device while driving if you try to turn it on. But this mode can be disabled if, for example, you are a passenger. But it will still be possible to select a list of people who can break through this protective mode, in fact, just like in the usual “do not disturb” mode.

Naturally, the updates also affected HomeKit. This time the changes affected the sound. Now, thanks to AirPlay 2, it will be possible to build a multi-room sound system to control when iOS help. Many acoustic manufacturers will work with this system, including Bang and Olufsen, Devialet, Libratone, Bluesound, Bowers & Wilkins and others.

After talking about AirPlay 2, it’s time to talk about it, and for this, according to tradition, Phil Schiller was invited to the stage. To begin with, he talked about 180 billion applications downloaded and $70 billion paid to developers.

The changes to the App Store are significant. The application store has received a greatly changed design. Now we will be greeted by the “today” tab with colorful cards. Visual changes also affected other sections of the App Store, which began to closely resemble Apple Music.

Apparently, Apple's silence on virtual or augmented reality was for a reason. Now the company is starting to actively promote this idea and demonstrate this phenomenon at its presentation. The stage showed how a space empire can be built on your desk. Apparently, Tim Cook was not lying when he once said that he believed in augmented reality.

Dozens of significant innovations are shown, starting with a redesigned store Apps Store, ending with the unique features of the iPad version of the system. However, in addition to the main changes in iOS 11, a huge number of smaller changes have been implemented that require the closest attention.

Moreover, the system reacts correctly to the information stored in QR codes. For example, if the QR code contains a link to a website, then it can be opened directly from the “Camera” in Safari.

Autofill password. Password autofill functionality is now available for third-party applications.

AirPods Settings. With the arrival of iOS 11, AirPods owners can customize the double-tap gesture for each earphone. For example, double-clicking the left earbud can activate Siri, and double-tapping the right earbud can go to the next track.

Automatically pause updates when battery is low. iCloud photo syncing, cellular app downloads, and other similar downloads automatically pause when battery is low in iOS 11 iPhone battery or iPad.

Automatic setup . iOS 11's new Automatic Setup feature lets you quickly copy to a new iPhone or iPad settings and iCloud Keychain passwords by simply holding your device close to your old one.

Smart inversion. In the menu “Settings” → “General” → “Accessibility” → “Display Adaptation” “Color Inversion” there is a new option “Smart Inversion”. It changes all display colors except images, media and some applications. The effect of the function is very similar to the dark interface mode that users were hoping for, but it does not apply to all elements of the iOS 11 interface.
