How to get the best performance from your computer. How to increase computer performance for minimal money. Disabling unnecessary Windows services

To ensure that programs run quickly without delays or freezes, you need to know how to speed up your computer. Quite often the computer starts to slow down.

In the future, this leads to overheating of the central processor and deterioration in the performance of other hardware components.

To establish stable operation, it is necessary to take steps to speed up the operation of the device.

Let's take a closer look at everything available methods improving the performance of a computer running the latest versions of the Windows operating system.

Various additional extensions, plugins and loaders can be installed on your computer along with other programs. Most often, such applications are viral and harm the device.

In this case, the installation program may not even inform the user about installing third-party components.

All these utilities not only can infect your computer with malware, but also fill up space in RAM, constantly working in the background.

Common causes of PC problems

Let's consider point by point all the basic rules that will help optimize your computer as much as possible.

All options are suitable for Windows 8.1 and newer versions.

need to replace.

All the main reasons for computer slowdowns are named. Now you can move on to a detailed description of the solution for each of the reasons.

The presence of too many applications in startup is indicated by a long initial boot of the OS. If your computer's startup time has increased significantly, the first thing you need to do is clean up unnecessary programs

from this mode.

The user may not even know that the application or game is in startup.

Comprehensive malware scanning and removal

Most users are not even aware that their computer resources are being consumed by one of the common types of viruses.

As a rule, a large number of resources can be taken away by a Trojan, spyware virus or third-party advertising banners that periodically appear in windows.

Such unwanted utilities can be picked up during the installation of a program from a suspicious source.

Most antiviruses update their databases regularly, however, even they are not one hundred percent capable of detecting and neutralizing absolutely all unwanted programs on the computer. If you notice that Windows takes too long to load, programs take several minutes to load, and the startup mode does not include unwanted applications

, the problem is that your device is infected with viruses. Note!

By removing malware, you will not only ensure stable operation of the system, but also protect yourself from possible theft of personal user data: credit card numbers, passwords, personal correspondence, etc.

Applications to speed up PC performance

Examples of such software can be CCleaner, Razer Game Booster and others.

  • Main functions:
  • Ability to remove applications from computer startup;

Let's look at the functionality and main features of the CCleaner application.

This is a small program that can quickly clean the computer of programs that the user has not used for a long time.

The utility cannot directly speed up performance.

Its main function is to analyze the use of applications and remove them. The user can also clear the system and browser cache.

You can also perform a system restore (needed if the basic configuration OS).

In the registry tab you can track all unnecessary entries from programs and delete them.

In the cleaning tab, you can remove unnecessary programs, as well as clear RAM of excess load.

Uninstalling programs using built-in OS functions

You can also analyze the use and removal of applications that are not needed and have not been used for a long time using standard OS components.

To do this, go to the control panel window and find the installation and uninstall utility icon there.

Click on it to open the following window:

Wait a few seconds so that the system can create a complete list of all components installed on the computer.

Destroying unnecessary software will free up space on your hard drive, so your computer will run a little faster.

If your computer is constantly low on RAM, it is best to install a slightly larger amount.

This option is suitable if you regularly remove programs from startup, scan your computer and remove viruses and other programs, but the RAM is still full.

Perhaps your computer has too little OP for stable operation of the installed operating system.

You can increase the RAM from 2GB to 4GB or from 4GB to 8GB.

To make programs run faster, you should purchase an additional SSD and connect it to the system hard drive.

Important! It's worth noting that if you only want to improve performance in games, it would be better to buy a more powerful graphics card.

Cleaning the system hard drive

One of the simplest and most effective ways to speed up work hard disk is cleaning it.

To perform a basic cleanup, open the My Computer window and right-click on your hard drive.

After it finishes, delete all detected temporary files and system cache.

Carrying out defragmentation

Defragmentation is the setting up and troubleshooting of logical partitions of a hard drive. This process helps distribute files and organize data on disk.

Defragmentation will also help the operating system function faster.

To start the process, go to the hard drive properties as in the previous section. Select the service tab and click the Optimize button.

It is worth noting that the defragmentation process can take a long time, and you should not work on the computer during optimization.

This acceleration method will be appropriate if you are not using an SSD. After a few hours, the optimization will be completed and the system will run much faster.

Optimizing the paging file

The paging file is a kind of space on the hard drive that the operating system uses only in extreme cases (when there is a catastrophic lack of RAM for the normal functioning of important components).

You can configure the operation of this file yourself. The paging file size can be included in the shared RAM.

To do this, go to the control panel and find the performance settings window.

Now go to the virtual memory tab and configure the configuration in the same way as shown in the image below:

In this case, we need to remove the use of the paging file creation mode. After that, apply all the changes you made.

As a rule, this method cannot increase the RAM very much, but it will provide a little more space for the operation of important system components.

Bottom line

The article discussed more ways to speed up your computer.

To better understand the course and order of actions, it is necessary to systematize all the information described.

If you encounter unstable operation of the operating system, perform a complex consisting of the following actions (maintaining the sequence):

  1. Remove all programs from automatic download(except for important operating system utilities). You should especially pay attention to Torrent, browser clients and extensions that are installed as an add-on to programs;
  2. Uninstall all programs that you have not used for a long time. Also analyze the CPU resources consumed by each program (using the task manager). Clean the system from “heavy” software;
  3. Update the drivers for your video card and hard drive. You only need to download them from official resource the manufacturer of your PC, laptop or from the website of the company that produced the hardware component;
  4. Remove from your hard drive not only unnecessary programs, but also files that you have not used for a long time. There may be movies or other large videos left on it;
  5. Check programs for creating virtual disk images. You may not have deleted several previously used images, and they are taking up extra space on your computer's hard drive. Typically, a single image can occupy anywhere from hundreds of megabytes to several gigabytes;
  6. If possible, install an SSD drive;
  7. Configure the Windows paging file;
  8. Start the process of defragmentation (optimization) of the hard drive;
  9. Never download multiple antiviruses on one computer. A conflict may occur in the work of each of them, and this will affect the overall productivity of the system;
  10. Scan your device for viruses and other malicious software;
  11. If you have completed all the steps and the computer is still slowing down, you need to increase the amount of RAM or reinstall Windows. Most likely, to establish normal operation, you will need to install more earlier version An OS that consumes less memory resources;
  12. If you intend to speed up your gaming performance, buy a new graphics card or download more new driver from the manufacturer's website.

Every user always wants his computer to work as quickly as possible, but he has absolutely no idea how to do this. There is a risk of downloading virus programs onto your PC for overclocking or cleaning, but they will not speed up your equipment, but on the contrary, will only cause harm. Let's look at how to configure and improve the performance of a computer on Windows 10 using already proven methods. Popular methods, which will help increase the performance of your PC.

Overclocking to full speed: setting up Windows 10 for maximum performance

Computer startup

When you start your PC, in most cases the programs you installed start working. Some of them may be completely unnecessary and harm your operating system. Programs greatly slow down your computer when running in the background. You may not even realize that some of them are enabled, and the speed leaves much to be desired. To improve performance, you just need to disable some programs in the startup menu.

Clearing the Temp folder

In the Windows 10 operating system, which stores files both temporarily and temporarily, a lot of unnecessary files remain. In other words, it slows down your system due to the large presence of services and various programs, which fill the Temp folder.

How to increase computer performance on Windows 10: professional tips

  1. Be careful about what you install on your computer. Sometimes some programs do not connect together and they very often turn out to be antiviruses. Especially if there are two of them on the computer, otherwise the entire operating system may crash.
  2. Sometimes the problem may not be hidden in dangerous programs or even viruses, but in the contamination of the computer components themselves. You should carefully clean the PC from dust with a dry cloth. Try not to touch small parts. After cleaning, the computer runs faster and overheats significantly less.
  3. Keep in mind that performance improvements are not always good for your computer. For example, the “High performance” setting entails high battery consumption. This applies to laptop owners. It is better to use such functions on a computer that does not need to be charged.
  4. Reinstalling the operating system, as a rule, always has a good effect on the performance of the computer. Unwanted programs, those that you do not use, viruses that were undetected during scanning, or various applications that only slow down the operation of the system itself will be completely removed.
  5. Must select correct components for PC. If something is chosen incorrectly, or, for example, the RAM does not match the data, and sometimes it is completely loaded. In this case, it is better to purchase new components.
  6. You can use special programs to clean unnecessary files, caches and other garbage. They increase the speed of the computer several times in all cases. The main thing is to download from a trusted source. And never forget to check the list of what the file cleaning program wants to remove!
  7. Updating drivers is a great help for your PC. Especially the update for the motherboard chipset. New versions are also relevant for other devices.
  8. Regularly scan your computer for viruses. It is best to be in the hands of a reliable antivirus. In this case, you will not risk losing all your data and information.

Video: How to configure maximum performance in Windows 10

There are many ways to improve computer performance. The methods are simple and you can always apply them to take care of your equipment and clean up unnecessary files. In addition, convenient and fast use of a PC brings pleasure and does not cause irritation, which is important. And most importantly, do not resort to untested methods, otherwise the computer’s situation may worsen.

Hello, friends!

Today I will tell you how to increase the performance (speed up) of a computer using the example of some settings (optimization) of the Windows 7 operating system. I have been working on my computer for four years now, and by today’s standards it is certainly outdated. Therefore, we have to deal with various Windows settings, disabling unnecessary components of this operating system.

In this article I will talk about the basic actions that will significantly speed up the operation of a computer running Windows 7. I will also say a few words about a wonderful utility called “TuneUp Utilities,” which I have been using for several years now, and which significantly optimizes the operation of the Windows 7 operating system and speeds up your computer.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that it is not necessary to perform all the steps presented below. Some settings may not be suitable for your daily tasks, and stopping some services may cause various problems. Therefore, before you disable and configure anything, make sure that this action will not entail any restrictions.

However, disabling just a few unnecessary features, or changing some settings, can help you significantly speed up loading and Windows operation 7.

I also draw your attention to the fact that noticeable improvements in the speed of Windows 7 will only be clearly visible if you use “outdated” computers. If you have new computer, with cool characteristics, then you most likely will not feel a big increase in productivity.

We increase the performance (speed up) of the computer. Optimizing boot and speed of Windows 7

1. The very first and IMPORTANT advice will be an event related to cleaning the operating system from various garbage

Before you perform the steps below, Windows optimization and speed up your computer, remove all unnecessary programs (especially games) and files. Clear your desktop of shortcuts, files and folders, leaving only the essentials. The fact is that having a large number of any objects on the desktop is highly undesirable, since they consume a lot of system resources.

An ideal Windows operating system desktop should look something like this:

To remove unnecessary software and games, I recommend that you use some utility, for example, which I will talk about below. If you are not familiar with this program, be sure to read this article. TuneUp Utilities will help you not only correctly remove unnecessary software, but also clean the system of other junk, optimize Windows performance and speed up your computer.

Every time you turn on the computer, certain programs autoload, which are very often not needed there. For example, some programs add a module that monitors new updates and, when they appear, prompts us to download the updates.

We don’t always need this, and if you decide to speed up your computer, you need to remove the launch of such applications from startup.

To get to the program startup menu, click “Start” - “Run”.

In the window that appears, type “msconfig” in the line and click the “Ok” button. After this, the “System Configuration” window will appear, which has a “Startup” tab.

If you do not have the “Run” item in the “Start” menu, then right-click on the Windows taskbar, and in context menu select "Properties". In the window that appears, in the “Start Menu” tab, click the “Customize” button. In the window that opens, find the “Run command” item and tick it, then apply the changes.

After you get to the program startup menu, uncheck the boxes next to unnecessary applications, and then apply the changes.

Some changes may require you to restart your computer for them to take effect.

I would like to note that you must leave the operating system, drivers and antivirus in startup; all other programs can be removed, but this is at your discretion.

After removing unnecessary programs from startup, the system will boot faster, in some cases the Windows boot speed will increase significantly.

3. Disabling unnecessary Windows services

One of the most effective ways Speeding up your computer is to disable unused (unnecessary) operating system services. Windows OS has a huge number of services enabled by default, the operation of which requires a large amount of system resources. Many of them can be disabled without losing functionality or reducing system security. For example, if your computer does not have a printer, you can disable the corresponding services responsible for its operation. After all, we don't need them! Is not it?

This event can significantly increase the performance of your OS! Be sure to pay attention to this.
To disable services, you can use the following method.

Launch all the applications that you use in your daily work, go to the “Services” tab (it is located in the “System Configuration” menu, next to the “Startup” tab, which I wrote about just above), find in the list the services that have “Status” has the status “Stopped”.

Then turn them off. Just be careful, some services may be necessary.

What services can be disabled to optimize Windows 7?

WWAN auto setup– if you do not have CDMA or GSM modules, this service can be safely disabled
Adaptive brightness adjustment - this service adjusts the screen brightness if there is a light sensor; if there is no such sensor, disable it.

Windows Firewall– designed to protect your computer. Recommended use third party applications for these purposes (for example, Comodo, KIS, DrWEB, etc.).

Windows Defender– disable it, a completely unnecessary service!

Program Compatibility Assistant Service– this service can be disabled, only in case of incompatibility of programs you will need to manually set the parameters, which does not happen very often.

WinHTTP Web Proxy Automatic Discovery Service– can be turned off.

Diagnostic Policy Service- practically not needed.

Smart card– if you do not use such cards, then disable them.

Remote Registry– Be sure to turn it off for security reasons.

Security Center– reminds you of various events such as lack of antivirus, outdated updates, etc. – turn it off if you don’t want to see them.

The list, of course, was not particularly comprehensive; in fact, there are many more services that can be disabled. I would be grateful if you add to this list in the comments to this article.

In addition, among the standard services there will be additional services third party programs , which are installed on your PC, they can also be disabled.

4. Increase the swap file

The paging file is a space on your computer's hard drive where the system copies files that do not fit in RAM. The system accesses the swap file to quickly load data and constantly uses it. If this space is too small, the computer will slow down.

In order to increase the size of the paging file, go to the “Start” menu and click “Control Panel”, the view of which is best switched to “Small icons”.

Then select: System - Advanced system settings. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Options. In the "Performance Options" window that appears, in the "Advanced" tab, click the "Change..." button. The “Virtual Memory” window will appear, in which uncheck the “Automatically select paging file size” checkbox and specify the size manually for each disk (if there are several of them in the system).

It is advisable to indicate the same minimum and maximum dimensions. It is advisable to choose a paging file size that is 2-4 times larger than the amount of RAM installed on the computer.

5. Changing visual effects

Windows 7 has an Aero interface, which consumes a significant amount of computer resources and, in some cases, slows it down.

By disabling Aero and other visual effects, you can achieve some improvement in computer performance.
Visual effects can be disabled in the “Performance Options” window, which I wrote about in the previous paragraph, in the “Visual Effects” tab.

There are three settings options here:

- provide the best view;

— ensure the best performance;

— special effects (completely manual settings).

Adjust these settings to your liking and apply the changes.

6. Disable indexing hard drives

To do this, go to “My Computer” and select any hard drive. Right-click and click “Properties” in the menu that appears.

After this, a window will open in which you uncheck the “Allow the contents of files on this drive to be indexed in addition to file properties” and apply the changes.

7. Use ReadyBoost Technology

ReadyBoost technology, included in Windows 7, is designed to speed up your computer. As I noted above, if there is not enough RAM, the system uses the paging file, which is located on the hard disk (HDD). HDDs are mechanical, slow devices, ReadyBoost allows you to use USB flash drives or memory cards to store such temporary data.
To activate the above technology, connect a USB flash drive or memory card, go to the “Properties” menu of this device. In the “ReadyBoost” tab, set the required amount of memory and apply the changes.

All these simple measures will help you significantly optimize Windows and speed up your computer.

Here are a few more tips that will help you keep your computer in excellent condition, thanks to which it will work quickly, for a long time and will not let you down.

How to care for your computer?

1. Defragment your disk regularly. Over time, files on your computer's hard drive become fragmented ( in simple words, are written randomly across the disk surface), which reduces the speed of data retrieval.

The standard defragmenter is located among the utility programs (Start - Programs - Utilities - Disk Defragmenter). I recommend using this tool from time to time.

2. Occasionally clean your disks of accumulated unnecessary information. Standard program"Disk Cleanup" is also located in the "Utilities" section.

3. Clean the registry regularly. When you delete various files and applications, various garbage can accumulate in the Windows system registry, which reduces system performance. To clean the registry, you can use third-party software, for example, CCleaner (you can download it).

4. Once every six months, clean the internal elements of the system blog from accumulated dust.

This is especially true before the summer heat. If you do not clean your computer from dust, its elements will significantly overheat, which can lead to the computer freezing and even breaking its devices.

5. Use high-quality computer antivirus program, For example, .

In conclusion of this post, I want to say a few words about a cool program designed to increase the performance (acceleration) of a computer and keep it in excellent condition.

A program that I have been using for several years. It allows you to find problems in your computer and fix them. Everything that I wrote in this article about increasing computer performance is implemented in TuneUp Utilities.

This program is updated annually and today is called TuneUp Utilities 2012.

Here are its main functions:

- increasing computer performance;

— optimization of Internet connection;

— deleting programs;

- Disk Defragmenter;

full customization Windows operating system;

— cleaning and defragmenting the system registry;

- recovery deleted files;

— customizing the appearance of the operating system;

— deleting files without the possibility of their recovery;

— setting hidden parameters of Windows OS and much more.

The functionality of TuneUp Utilities is very rich in various features!

If you have not yet tried TuneUp Utilities, I recommend that you install this program and start using it, and then the performance (speed) of your system will always be at its best.

Unfortunately, this software is not free, but finding the program on the Internet is not a problem.

If you don’t know where to download programs, then I recommend that you read my article “”. You can find a lot of useful things on torrent trackers.

How to optimize your computer?

Very easy and simple! This guide will help you set up and optimize your computer, clean your computer from various debris, remove viruses and reliably protect your PC, speed up your work and loading Windows, get rid of errors and freezes, and much more...

That's all for me. I hope my post was useful to you. Love your computer, take care of it, optimize Windows performance and then he will delight you with impeccable and fast work.

    Useful article, I didn’t know a lot, thank you :) Alexander, can you explain point 6 in more detail, why is this being done?

    Nice recipes!

    You can also use special programs, for example Auslogics Boot Speed - in it all these parameters are clearly organized into sections and configured in a few clicks without going into the internals of the system

    Both TuneUp Utilities and Auslogics Boot Speed - this software is not free. And not cheap! TuneUp Utilities for 3 computers costs $65. Both programs cost about the same.

    Well, there is also a FREE program like these: Advanced Sistem Care 7. I used it myself. She helped me personally)

    The 2010 version of the program costs 50 euros, Sanya, how much does 2012 cost?

    I use Auslogics BoostSpeed, I must say that TuneUp Utilities is quite good, I used the magazine version for a while without updating the program itself - everything suited me, then I started experimenting, tried other products 😀 ...

    Thank you Sasha, the post is interesting - and for Kasperych I advise you to install Emsisoft Anti-Malware in addition.

    There is another similar program called CCleaner. But TuneUp Utilities, according to your recommendation, looks even more functional, I’ll definitely use it on my XP system. And damn it, it’s time for me to get a new computer 😀

    Doesn't Casper slow down your computer? I once tried to stage it, it was terrible. Now Doctor Web - I don’t notice it at all

    As it were, Windows performs indexing in order to know where which file is located. Absolute analogy with search engines. Only if you disable indexing, the system will take longer to search for the file, since it will go through all the files. And if you turn it on, then Windows will periodically go through the system and “index” files... In principle, it does not create a special load, but maybe for me, I often use the search, since there are thousands of thousands of files on my computer that are always needed.. .

    Although, they say that the first step in speeding up Windows is to disable search indexing... And often this is enough. 🙂

    Thanks for the article - lately the laptop has started to slow down a lot

    Victor Bochenkov, I also use the CCleaner program.

    Alexander, thanks for the extensive post.

    Svetlana, I can advise you to defragment your laptop. Only with the built-in tool. If you haven't done it yet, you'll be pleased with the results.

    Volodya, what do you mean by built-in tool? I know. that defragmentation greatly speeds up the work of any computer, but I don’t have room for a regular built-in one. My daughter recently just reinstalled Windows on her laptop - it also helps a lot.

    By the way, they asked about Kaspersky - as a regular user, I can say it doesn’t slow down - it was a very long time ago when it slowed down

    Cool. But it's a pity for the PS only. I was thinking about buying myself a mac. 😈

    Victor, Siklisha lags behind the program described above in many ways, CCleaner is a janitor (cleaning lady).

    Alexander (AKart), if you install Kaspersky, then it’s better than 2010, the 2011 version took a long time to be finalized and now, to put it mildly, they don’t like it :)

    Good, informative and voluminous article! Thanks for the recommendations - I'll definitely use them. Actually, lately I’ve been blocking something on my computer... I need to fix it 🙄

    Today my desktop computer's power supply burned out (I HOPE it was the power supply and not the entire computer), today I switched to a netbook...oooh, horror!!! I will optimize according to the article. Although I know all this, I can still miss something. and here everything is before your eyes!

    Alexander, another question: If the processor or mother burns out, would the computer react somehow when turned on? Now when I press the on button, I have zero emotions at all, which is why I blame the power supply...

    Alexander Bobrin

    ValeronVoronin I think that if the mother burns, there will be no signs of life. My blog was on fire, you press the power button - silence. One day my mother purchased a defective one, the computer turned on (the fans were running and the diode was glowing), but there was nothing on the screen and no sounds. And so, if one of the devices does not work, then there should be sounds. Most likely you have a nutrition blog, but I don’t exclude your mother as well - sign up later.

    I have a license at work, I haven’t earned it at home yet, I download the keys on the website. And so he is not broken. There are simply broken versions, and there may be problems with them. But if you just download the keys to the license, then everything will be fine.

    Yeah, tomorrow I’ll go to the store with the block, maybe they’ll check it so I don’t waste my money empty, then I’ll write. It’s also a pity to spend money on an antivirus software, but when I make money on the Internet, then I’ll buy it.

    I don’t understand, on what website do you download the license keys? There you download the demo version for 30 days and that’s it, then it doesn’t seem to be updated? Or am I doing something stupid?

    Sasha, sometimes kay lasts for months, sometimes not even a day goes by before it is cut off. It is best to download the archive of keys, there are about a thousand of them. 🙂

    I've been using the license for a long time - no problems

    I downloaded TuneUp Utilities 2012 in order to delete a folder (empty), which is restored every time after deletion after the system boots. I tried to remove it with the specified utility several times different ways. It still recovers after a reboot. 🙁

    INSTALL Unlocker 1.9 TO DELETE SUCH FOLDERS.

    100% Unlocker 1.9 will not help. The same thing will happen as with TuneUp Utilities. This is probably a virus being faked system folder, and Windows restores it.

    Alexander, please help me, now my games won’t start, what should I do, thanks in advance.

    I don’t entirely agree with: “For example, if your computer does not have a printer, you can disable the corresponding services responsible for its operation. After all, we don't need them! Is not it?" The fact is that a printer may appear, and a virtual printer - I sometimes use it. Also the rest of the services, for example, I turned off everything that I don’t use now, and in half a year I’ll buy and install something, but it will refuse to work and I don’t remember that I ever turned off any services (try to find what else needs to be turned on) . It seems to me that the game is not worth the candle, which applies to services, in standby mode they consume very little memory and about zero processor resources, I dabbled with this - zero effect.

    I not only disagree with point 4, it’s complete nonsense. Firstly, Windows by default has a virtual memory value of quite a decent size, and only once in ten years of working on a PC was this value not enough, but even then Windows simply suggests increasing the amount of memory and that’s all. Moreover, I suggest you conduct an experiment - turn it off altogether virtual memory, personally, for me and my sister, this doubled the speed of the entire system. I have an old movie IDE drive on 80GB it began to be copied at a speed of 70-30Mbits. Sata2 is a little higher. Just think about what virtual memory is and it will become clear to you that this is the worst evil from Microsoft. If you are interested in this topic, I can explain to you in more detail why.

    I did everything point by point, I thought it would fly. Stupid as he was stupid ((

    Please tell me, if I purchase a license for the tune up program, how many computers can I install it on?

    I installed an agt3-25sat-64g solid-state hard drive, the system with a bunch of programs loads in 10 seconds. Installing windows 7 on the computer took 8 minutes. If you want your computer to work quickly, buy a 64 gig solid-state hard drive, install windu 7 on it and you will understand what speed is. Before switching to these drives, read reviews on the Internet; drives are now not expensive, less than 2 thousand; they are connected with a cable.

    Thank you very much it helped a lot.

    Excellent article, it mentions both autoloading and unnecessary services. If you don’t invest in hardware, then everything you need is indicated, and if you have a budget, I recommend buying an SSD; download speeds will increase significantly.

    Not bad! And everything is clear! But it’s only written for W7... no... it will be easier in XP... but still a useful article! If possible, I’ll post it on my website with a link to you!?

    Interesting tips, I will need to increase my computer performance, I have Windows 7 Cokras, I will do everything like you.

    I think to avoid various problems, e.g. slow speed computer, you need to initially buy (and spare no money on it) a computer with good performance. A stingy man pays twice, that's how it is.

    You don't need to buy an expensive one to have a productive computer. These are store myths. Previously, all programs worked normally on the Pentium 120.

    I understand that now the demands on programs have become greater. But for office work You don't need a gaming PC with a $200 graphics card.

    The main thing is at least 4GB of RAM, and spend less time on the Internet so as not to pick up viruses.

    I was pleased with the fan; it hasn’t been cleaned for three years, no less.

    Yes, cool, everything a programmer needs is practical and to the point.

    Very good article.

    The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is cleaning the radiator every six months.

    This operation is very painful for the computer and any careless movement

    may damage the processor. And it costs the most in the system unit.

    Indexing by the way loads the processor by 30 percent when it starts

    and this service starts even when you are not searching on the computer.

    Considering that the processor is 100 percent, disabling indexing will greatly affect performance.

    8 minutes is a lot, just catastrophically long for a computer.

    My computer boots in half a minute.

    Thank you good advice helped

    useful article, especially for noobs like me))) thanks to the Author

    I wish I had read these tips earlier. Due to the fact that I did not know how to properly care for a computer, especially that it needs to be cleaned every six months, my laptop burned out after 3 years...

    For fast work On the computer, I just turned off startup and disabled several services, the computer works fine. The main thing is not to clutter your computer big amount programs.

    I downloaded TuneUp Utilities 2012 in order to delete a folder (empty), which is restored every time after deletion after the system boots. I tried to remove it using the specified utility several times in different ways. It still recovers after a reboot.

    I did as you advised, but after a while the 0.5 GB removable disk stopped showing up when connected. Tell me what can be done? I'll keep an eye on the comments. Thank you.

    Disabling unnecessary services in Windows requires a certain level of literacy, which the vast majority do not have. Moreover, this is an unsafe activity. I get out of this situation by taking screenshots of all services, like they are in your photo. This results in several screenshots. Then I disable some services that seem unnecessary to me and also take screenshots. In case of failure, I connect the services one by one, focusing on the screenshots.

    In your mind, if you really need performance, then first you need to choose an OS. Windows itself is a braking system, no matter how you speed it up. For scientific calculations, Windows is not used anywhere: the ISS uses Linux. The best solution would be to install two operating systems on a computer to solve different problems.

    Great guide! Really helped))) Thanks Friend

    This article helped a lot!

    Thanks a lot...

    Very useful article, thank you very much.

    I used your program, but it also has a minus - it also eats up productivity since it is constantly running. There is an alternative to Win.Tools.net

    It cleans better, removes programs, startup and much more. After it, the computer flies. Best regards, Alexander

    I haven't visited your blog for a long time. At one time, a couple of tips helped solve several problems, in particular, the HDD infection worked slowly, although time passes and most people change it to a fast SSD drive; they have now become more accessible))

    I myself am the owner of a laptop, a useful thing in the household, but if you decide to do complex calculations, video editing or image rendering, modeling in Cinema 4D without a good video card is a lost cause. Personally, I bought mine in the summer of 2013, right at the height of the discounts, bought an MSI CX70 ONF-230RU, and in 2016 I decided to upgrade it, a crazy idea came to me, but it burned out. I assembled an MSI CX70 + GTX 1060 for myself and I will say that it became more comfortable to work in the above applications, and then I bought a high-quality 27" QHD monitor and the whole process began to sparkle with new colors. True, there are limitations, as you know in PC motherboards there is a slot for an x16 video card and I connected via x1. The data flow rate is greatly reduced, but even what is there is enough for the eyes, for a long time I did not believe that it would work. In a word, it turned out to be such a budget PC assembly from a laptop)))

Today we will look at a hot topic - how to increase PC speed. How can a computer drive any person crazy at the moment of an incomprehensible freezing or slowdown? It would seem that nothing significant is running, but the computer begins to think and think. And then all sorts of thoughts arise: “after all, I don’t do anything like that, where do such brakes come from?” It can also happen when the computer freezes even in browsers, or in office applications that have never loaded the computer.

So, let's move on to ways that will help you increase your computer's performance.

1. Replacement of components

One of the easiest ways is to replace parts of your computer. First, you need to figure out which part or group of parts (components) should be replaced to obtain maximum PC performance.

1.1. CPU You need to change it if the frequency of the new one is 30 percent higher. Otherwise, you will not experience a significant increase in productivity. There are people like extreme sports enthusiasts who try to overclock their processor. This method, of course, is not suitable for everyone, but, nevertheless, by doing it, the frequency can be increased, thereby increasing the performance and speed of the computer. Overclocking is possible if motherboard and the processor has overclocking potential. However, it must be remembered that a part that is overclocked will last less than it would in its normal state. In general, the topic of overclocking is very extensive, and we will dwell on this for now.

1.2. HDD, or also called a hard drive. Here we focus on the speed of hard drives, not their capacity. If you have a hard drive from an economical series with a low spindle speed of about 5400 rps, then it would be advisable to replace it with a hard drive with a speed of 7200 rps. Such a replacement will definitely increase the performance of your computer. You can also replace your hard drive with an SSD drive, believe me, the speed will increase tenfold.

1.3. RAM. When almost all of the RAM is loaded while working at the computer, it definitely needs to be added or replaced. The RAM load can be seen in the Task Manager; if the memory is approximately 80% full, then I recommend increasing it by 50-100%.

1.4. Video card. Here we think everything is clear. If you choose for games, we advise you to find a powerful video card, not forgetting about compatibility with the central processor.

Which part is exactly pulling your computer down can be seen in the system configuration. To do this, go to Start - Control Panel - System, find “Rate performance” and click. The overall performance of your computer is determined by the smallest indicator, thanks to which you can determine the weak part of the computer. For example, if the evaluation of the processor differs significantly from the evaluation of the hard drive and RAM, then you need to think about replacing such a part with a newer one, and therefore more productive.

2. Computer cleaning, repair

The computer may freeze and slow down due to some kind of malfunction. Naturally, routine repairs can help increase the performance of your computer. For example, poor cooling of critical PC parts will lead to a drop in the performance of the entire computer. In this case, thoroughly clean the entire system unit from dust and other things.

3. Defragmentation

If you haven’t done defragmentation for a long time, then you definitely need to do it, because it greatly affects the performance of the computer and the boot speed of the system. During defragmentation, all scattered fragments of various files on the disk are collected into one whole, thereby reducing the strain on the read head in the hard disk. After you do defragmentation, performance will increase to some extent. By the way, to carry out defragmentation you need to have about 30% of free space on your computer. local disk. Also, do not forget to monitor your system disk: if there is less than 1 GB of free space left on it, then do not wonder why your computer is slowing down so much. Do not save large files (movies, games, etc.) to your desktop, as this will clog up the C:\ drive.

4. Viruses

Viruses can also affect system performance, and this is a fact. They can slow down your PC, or even stop it altogether. If your computer spontaneously takes a significant amount of time to boot, then you must first scan it with antiviruses or scanners, for example DrWeb CureIt!. However, of course, it is better to have initially good antivirus, for example Nod 32 or DrWeb. We scanned the system, found the virus and removed it!

5. Use of special optimizer programs

Using programs designed to optimize the operating system, you can significantly increase system performance. There are a lot of programs, however, having tried many optimizers, we would recommend AeroTweak, PCMedic, Auslogics BoostSpeed or Ccleaner. All these programs are functional and effective, which is the most important thing in our case.

I also want to note that almost all of these software have the function of disabling certain programs during loading. So, it is better to remove programs that you practically do not use from startup for faster operation of your PC.

Remember, before each dubious manipulation, be sure to create a system restore point.

In Windows 7, you can also increase performance on your own by changing the graphical interface. Go to Start - Control Panel - System - Advanced - Settings. Here we find “Ensure the best performance” and select.

6. Selecting an operating system

Do you really like Windows XP? However, I can say one thing - it’s time to switch to seven, believe me, it’s worth it. If, of course, your computer settings allow it. If you have 2 Gigabytes of RAM, then don’t hesitate to change the operating system to Windows 7. If the RAM is 4 GB or more, then install Windows 7 64-bit version. In this case, the system speed will increase, provided that you work in 64-bit programs.

I do not recommend using various Windows builds for your computer, such as Beast or different Pandas. They are loaded with tons of unnecessary programs, which, as time-tested, glitch and freeze, as a result of which PC performance drops.

7. Reinstalling Windows XP/7

Reinstalling the operating system is like a drastic decision. After reinstallation, performance will definitely increase significantly. The more dirty the old system was, the faster the computer will work with new system. It’s just that the operating system is designed in such a way that it needs to be reinstalled over time. There are people, even friends, who reinstall their system several times a month. Everyone has their own needs, but we would recommend reinstalling Windows at least once every six months. In short, reinstalling the operating system will increase the speed and performance of your computer.

In this article, we tried to explain as clearly as possible what methods can be used increase computer speed. We believe this article will save you time.

Many programs require excellent computer performance. This is especially true for games. But due to the incorrect operation of the Windows system and its low optimization, crashes and slowdowns in games often occur. When enough powerful characteristics The computer system does not allow games to be displayed correctly, and the lack of RAM interferes with the gameplay. But, there are many ways to solve this problem and increase PC performance.

Why do games slow down?

There are two types of reasons why games slow down: software and hardware. With hardware, everything is simple: computer characteristics are important for running games. Many modern games are not suitable for older processors or require more RAM. The characteristics of the video card (often also the network one) affect the speed of video information exchange. You can check the performance in the task manager, where the CPU and memory load is displayed.

If the CPU load is more than 90%, it is clear that there are not enough resources for correct operation. The photo shows a diagram of the system's operation when idle. When loading, the history window will have completely different values.

When running games on laptops, the user may encounter another hardware feature. Errors and slowdowns in games may indicate a low laptop battery. The system's hardware saves energy for long-term operation, so it does not allocate the proper amount of memory for running games. This feature is often found on DELL brand laptops. To continue the maximum operation of the system, it is worth connecting the laptop to the power supply.

Another interesting reason associated with hardware failures is poor cooling of the video card or processor. A broken cooler can damage the processor after it overheats, which is much more serious than, for example, cluttering the system with unnecessary files. It is also worth paying attention to the dustiness of the inside of the computer: over time, a very large amount of dust sticks to the boards, which interferes with the operation of the current parts.

With the software type of reasons, everything is more complicated. This is a whole complex of problem sectors of the computer, on which performance depends.

Factors affecting the performance of a computer or laptop

  • incompatibility of computer software, programs, games, operating system with PC components;
  • the presence of extraneous, unnecessary files;
  • cooler failure or poor heat dissipation from the central parts of the computer;
  • in many cases, the cause is a conflict between programs: installing two antiviruses at the same time or incompatible drivers confirms this.
  • errors in setting up the operating system and/or incorrect use of it;
  • BIOS malfunction;
  • malware infection;

However, at the software level, there are many ways to solve performance problems. In general, the combination of these methods is called optimization.

How to optimize your PC on Windows

How Registry Tweaks Can Improve Performance

As you know, a computer registry is a global database containing various data about the operation of the system and the computer in general. This global database reflects the parameters and settings of individual applications. Everything is based on how the data in the registry is structured and presented. System failures and errors primarily begin with registry data errors. Therefore, it is important to know how to properly work with data, edit and optimize the PC registry.

The most in a simple way Entering the computer's registry is using the command line. Open the command line using the Win+R key combination, then enter the regedit command. Thus, the user opens the Registry Editor window.

The sequence for cleaning the registry is as follows:

  • open the registry editor;
  • go to the link HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion;
  • remove unnecessary programs;
  • the same thing should be repeated with another registry branch;
  • It is also worth paying attention to the fact that when you disable any program in startup, it is quite possible to disable the antivirus.

How to speed up your work by defragmenting and cleaning your hard drive

The most common way to optimize an operating system is to clean the hard drive of unnecessary files. These can be copies, reports of active programs, temporary files, cache of browser programs, etc.

The standard Windows Disk Cleanup tool is also used to clean the disk from temporary and unused files. Click “Start” -> “All Programs” -> “Accessories” -> “System Tools”. Then we launch the program. We select the disk we need, remove/place the indicators opposite exactly those categories of files that need to be cleaned (deleted), and proceed to clean it.

Another convenient way overclocking your computer and system means defragmenting your hard drive. This procedure makes it possible to increase the speed of access to files and, as a result, increase the speed of the system. Ultimately, everything depends on the level of disk fragmentation: with a high value, performance increases significantly.

The defragmentation program is located: Start->All Programs->Accessories->Services. And then select “disk defragmentation”. Specify the desired disk to defragment. In addition, the program analyzes the disk and can tell the user whether defragmentation is needed in this moment. And if desired, the user sets a schedule according to which this procedure will be carried out.

Cleaning and freeing RAM

You can unload and clear RAM in various ways. In a broad sense, unloading RAM and increasing system performance is called optimization.

Closing unnecessary programs and applications

The first step to unload RAM is to end all unnecessary programs running on the computer.

The task manager displays programs that are running. By “removing tasks” you can unload the RAM, which will give your computer more speed. This is especially true for applications that constantly run in the background.

Cleaning startup

No startup required for cleaning special programs and funds. IN command line) enter the MSCONFIG command. So, we will launch the system configuration. Go to the “Startup” item. It’s not easy to understand the list of programs that appears. And disabling one of the programs can lead to serious consequences. In particular, to the malfunction of the system or its failure.

Restarting Windows Explorer

The explorer.exe process is responsible for everything that the user sees on the screen: the desktop, program images, etc. With a small amount of OP, this process freezes and the images behave strangely. In this case, it needs to be restarted.

To close a process, you need to hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys and right-click on an empty space in the Start menu. Then select “Exit Explorer”. This will close the explorer.exe process.

To re-enable it (and it can start automatically), you need to open the Task Manager menu again, create a new task in the “File” panel, and enter the name of the process.

explorer.exe will be restarted.

Removing malware to improve performance

Activity malware on your computer may affect its performance. Because The virus also takes up a share of RAM, it interferes with the work of other applications, and sometimes blocks them altogether.

Using a multi-level antivirus with updated databases will solve this problem, preventing harmful effects on RAM.

Optimizing visual effects

The system interface includes many visual effects that serve to create presentability, uniqueness and, in a sense, style appearance systems. However, such effects have a negative impact on productivity, because occupy a large amount of RAM. And many effects are subtle and therefore completely unnecessary.

In order to optimize visual effects, you should open “Explorer”, then select “Advanced system settings”. In the “Performance” tab, select “Options”. Now the user has a menu where he can control the operation of visual effects.

How to configure the BIOS to overclock your computer and improve its performance

The system operation process can be optimized by adjusting some parameters in the BIOS. This must be done carefully so as not to contribute to any software errors.

When configuring processor consistency, you must enable the following settings:

  • CPU Level 1 Cache;
  • CPU Level 2 Cache;
  • CPU Level 2 Cache ECC Check;
  • Boot Up System Speed;
  • Cache Timing Control;

All these parameters determine the level of system performance, the speed of the processor and information processing, and the stability of the processor.

You can regulate the operation of RAM using the following parameters:

  • DRAM Frequency;
  • SDRAM Cycle Length;
  • RAS-to-CAS Delay;
  • SDRAM RAS Precharge Time;
  • FSB/SDRAM/PCI Freq;
  • Memory Hole At 15–16M;
  • Optimization Method;

These parameters include changes in the recharge rate of memory cells, the overall speed of data exchange with RAM, bus frequency, number of clock cycles, and so on.

Please note that changes to BIOS settings may have a negative impact on the operation of the system.

Setting up the swap file

A page file is a virtual memory that expands the computer's physical memory.

You can set up a paging file and clear your computer’s RAM by following a simple algorithm:

In the “System” tab of the Control Panel, find and select “Advanced system settings”. Next, in “System Properties”, select “Settings” in the “Performance” tab.

In the performance parameters, we are interested in the settings in the “Advanced” field. Here we set the item that does not include a swap file, confirm. But when returning to the system, you should follow the same algorithm, only to return the previously set settings.

There is another way to clear virtual memory, using the Group Policy Editor window.

Select “Security Settings” -> “Local Policies” and select a folder with the same name.

Call up properties, select “Local security setting” and confirm.

Setting up the video card

I’ll tell you about setting up a video card as a way to optimize a computer using the example of setting up an NVIDIA card.

Video: How to Increase NVIDIA Graphics Card Performance for Gaming

The first step is to install the card drivers. After installation, you can begin configuring the settings.

By right-clicking on the desktop, we open a pop-up window in which we select the panel NVIDIA management. We are interested in the 3D Parameter. We carry out the settings according to the 3D application. And further:

  • turn on all GPUs;
  • turn off vertical sync;
  • select adaptive power management mode;
  • turn off triple buffering;
  • We configure texture filtering for the highest performance;
  • turn off anisotropic filtering;
  • turn off scalable textures.

These basic parameters are enough for the correct operation of applications and launching games. But depending on the drivers and video card model, some parameters may not be in the settings. These settings can increase the frame rate per second by up to 30%, but do not guarantee a 100% result.

Computer hardware acceleration

If your computer’s video card is having difficulty working (incorrect image, lag, spontaneous shutdown of visual effects), you should use hardware acceleration computer.

Hardware acceleration in a broad sense is offloading the central processor using hardware to perform tasks separately, i.e. distribution of work across several hardware modules. For example, processing video files of various formats takes up most of the computer's RAM, and to relieve the burden on the central processor, a hardware accelerator module is used.

Correct operation of hardware accelerators consists of installing the necessary drivers on the computer. In general, the entire work of hardware accelerators is based on the support of software and an entire driver base in the operating system. Graphical interface, visual effects require hardware acceleration, like many graphics engines of modern games and video editors.

How to enable hardware acceleration

On the Windows 7 operating system, hardware acceleration is enabled as follows:

  • a special driver is installed (in most cases);
  • right-click on the Desktop -> “Personalization” -> in the “Display” column, select parameter settings, additional parameters. Next, change the parameters in the “Diagnostics” tab. This tab will contain adjustments to the hardware acceleration mode:
  • Configuring video cards from individual companies in specialized programs (in the section on hardware acceleration and video conversion):

You can disable hardware acceleration by following the instructions above, but moving the slider to the other side. Often the hardware acceleration feature is not available. The PC does not support hardware acceleration because... The device driver is installed incorrectly or is not designed for this function at all.

Advanced System Care

The program is a package of basic options for debugging, repairing, restoring, and simply monitoring the system for any malfunctions. Presented in two versions: paid and free. As a rule, the free version does not always work correctly, especially since it does not include all the system protection components provided by IObit. The free version update fails on many computers or does not occur at all. However, the program in terms of functionality and form of execution in the interface differs sharply from all others in better side. Therefore, if the user is seriously interested in increasing productivity, it is worth using Advanced SystemCare.

Easy Cleaner

Free program for stable system operation. Its main tool is cleaning the Windows registry. But, in addition to this, the program performs a wide range of optimization tasks. In practice, Easy Cleaner is a good tool that would be useful to every PC user. But the program does not always work correctly. Often there are failures when deleting files (after searching for them), and the program freezes during its operation. There are negative reviews and low ratings of the program on the forums.

Red Button

Initially, the program was conceived as an easy, uncomplicated solution for optimizing the system for amateur users. All you need to do is press the big red button. The result will come by itself. This is the simplicity of the program.

The latest versions of Red Button have recently been paid. There are analogues of the program, the prices for which have now been raised as much as possible. According to reviews, the program is not highly reliable, and there is nothing unusual in its operation. Red Button is the simplest common tool for optimizing and cleaning the system.

What can I do to prevent games from slowing down?
