For example, having bought such a device, you can remove the television, set-top box and multimedia remote control in the closet, and register all their functions in the universal remote control.

Can any remote control be universal? No. Although outwardly they are similar, their internal electronic circuit is different. Only devices designed for this can be configured to control multiple devices.

Difference between original and universal remote

The remote control from the TV, for example, the Tricolor TV, is a useless device in itself, it can only be used in tandem with another device - a TV receiver, for which it was created.

The principle of operation of the remote control is based on three actions:

When you press the button of the device, you mechanically activate the microcircuit, in which a certain sequence of electrical impulses is created;
The LED element of the remote control converts the received command into infrared radiation with a wavelength of 0.75-1.4 microns, and sends a signal to the paired device;
The TV has a phototransistor that detects this IR signal and converts it into its electrical impulse, transfers it to its control unit, so that the command you set is executed.

The communication method used in remote controls is called PCM, or Pulse Code Modulation. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that each command is assigned a separate 3-bit sequence, for example:

000 - turn off the TV;
001 - select the next channel;
010 - return the previous channel;
011 - increase the volume;
100 - decrease the volume;
111 - turn on the TV, etc.

That is, when you press a button on the remote control, the electronic circuit turns on the IR LED according to the preset pattern: "111" - ON, ON, ON, with a clear signal step length, for example, 3 milliseconds. If you have selected the volume control button, which has the code 011, then the LED will perform three such actions with a predetermined delay: turn off, turn on and turn on again.

The most common brands of universal remote controls are Supra, Huayu and Beeline.

How to find the TV code

To set up a universal remote control for your TV, it is advisable to know the three- or four-digit code of a specific model. You can find such codes either in the technical passport of the TV, or on the website of the equipment manufacturer, or in special ones. It's called that - "Code for setting up the remote control".

But how do you set up the remote for your TV if you can't find the correct code for your model? For this, each UPDU has the function automatic tuning with programmatic code search. It is enough just to press the desired combination of numbers, after which the auto-selection command will start.

Setting up universal remote controls

The first step is to insert the power supplies into the remote control. Some remote controls are sold without batteries, so you have to buy them extra. You can stay on batteries, or you can immediately purchase rechargeable cells. The second option will cost more, but they can be recharged hundreds of times from the mains.

Then turn on the TV, with which the remote control will be paired. On the remote control, select the desired mode: TV, DVD, PVR or AUDIO (to set up the TV - button "TV"). Hold the button for 3 seconds to turn on the indicator on the front of the instrument.

Automatic

This method is used if the code for the brand of your device is not in the list of brand names. However, if there is a conflict of control buttons (the function of one button extends to several devices), then their correction will be impossible if a search has been started in the entire database (with the combination "9999").

V different models the combination of buttons can be different, it is better to look at the information on the packaging from the remote control or in the instructions attached to it.

To configure the SUPRA (Supra) remote control, which is most often used to control TVs TM LG, Samsung or Philips, the algorithm will be as follows:

Turn on the TV;
Direct the remote control at him;
"Power" and hold it for 5-6 seconds until the LED lights up;
Wait until the volume icon appears on the screen. Try to change the sound setting, if the TV responds, then the setup was successful.

The HUAYU UPDU is configured according to the following scheme:

Turn on the TV;
Press the button on the remote control panel "Set" followed by the button "Power", and then release both buttons at the same time;

Enter a four-digit code;

Turn on TV;
Press 2 buttons: "C" and "Setup";
Wait until the initialization is completed and after the indicator blinks 2 times, the buttons can be released;

No code
