Directly measure the circumference of the wheel;

To select the circumference using the table, you need to find its diameter on the tire, for example “26x1.25”. In the table, we find opposite this diameter the corresponding circumference length - 1953 mm and enter it into the bicycle computer. To enter numbers, press the right button successively and set the desired value of the right number in the circumference (in our case, “3”). Then briefly press the left button. At the same time, the second digit on the right side begins to blink. In the same way, with the right button we set the second digit (in our case “5”) and in the same way set the remaining two digits “9” and “1”.

The second more accurate way to measure the circumference of a wheel:

We draw a thin but bold transverse line on the tire with white chalk (tires must first be inflated to normal operating pressure). Next, you need to get on the bike and slowly ride in a straight line for more than one revolution of the wheel, so that the first and second chalk marks on the tire are imprinted on the asphalt or other hard surface ( this operation It’s best to have an assistant holding you as you move). Next, you need to use a tape measure to measure the distance between two marks in mm on the asphalt and enter the numbers into the bike computer using the method indicated above.

The LEFT button is used only to switch the recorded cycling computer readings (Freeze Frame Memory)

Installing bicycle computer parts

1. Attach the reed sensor (magnet) in the form of a cylindrical post on the outer spoke of the front wheel. The sensor is secured with a screw on it, so that you can move the sensor with little force along the spoke when choosing the desired position. In this case, the end of the sensor with the magnetic part should be facing the reading device, which is to be mounted on the plug.

2. Install the cycling computer reading device (fixed) on the inside of the bicycle front fork stand (stay) using Velcro and additional fastening using two plastic clamps. If there is a disc brake on the front wheel, it is better to install the reading device on the fork leg opposite from brake disc. When choosing a mounting location for the reading device, it is necessary to assume that the distance between the end of the sensor and the reading device when the wheel rotates should be within 0.2-0.3 cm (in this case, the end of the sensor should move opposite the central part of the reading device). Having set the distance, finally attach the sensor to the spoke and the reader to the fork. In this case, with the final tightening of the mounting plastic clamps on the reading device and the mounting screw on the sensor, the distance between the reading device and the sensor should increase to 0.5-1.0 mm. This will be the correct working distance between the sensor and the reading device for the cycling computer.

3. Secure the display mounting pad with Velcro and two plastic clamps on the steering wheel.

Before attaching the display mounting pad to the handlebar, it is advisable to first lay the wire from the reader to the bicycle computer display in such a way that during any turns of the handlebar, this wire remains free and without tension. Next, the wire from the reading device is additionally secured using flexible plastic clamps in the right places.

4. Fix the cycling computer display on the mounting platform.

How to set up a cycling computer?

Installation of the kit in question is carried out as follows:

  1. A magnetic sensor is attached to the outer spoke using a special screw.
  2. The reading device is mounted on the inside of the rack. It can be secured with Velcro. The distance between the reading device and the end of the sensor should be 20-30 mm. The final tightening of the clamps will increase this distance by 2-3 mm, which is normal.
  3. The mounting platform for the display of the SunDing SD cycling computer is fixed using Velcro and a pair of plastic clamps on the handlebars.
  4. The wire is laid in such a way that it remains tension-free at any turning radius.
  5. The device display is mounted on the working platform.
  6. The operation of the device is checked.

Important point

Knowing, it is necessary to remember the importance of calculating the length of one revolution of the wheel. To do this, you can inflate the chamber to working pressure, apply chalk or paint to a transverse stripe in the center of the tire. Then you need to drive the distance strictly in a straight line so that the wheel leaves two marks on the road. You must ride a bicycle or apply appropriate effort while holding it in your hands. This is necessary so that the pressure on the chamber is compared with real load. Using a tape measure, measure the distance between the two marks left and enter the result into the computer.

In the warm season, I try to give up public transport and switch to a bicycle. The question of buying a bike computer came up naturally. There was no particular need for it, but I wanted to pick up a new toy on my bike. I decided to take a Chinese one, went to Ali, chose the cheapest (most popular), paid, waited, received, did not regret it!

The device arrived in Kyiv in a classic yellow package 20 days after the order. The packaging turned out to be quite cheap and slightly wrinkled.

The kit included:
- The bike computer itself
- Information receiving sensor (on the fork) with a base (on the steering wheel)
- Magnet transmitter (on the wheel spoke)
- Set of plastic clamps for installation

The bike computer is wired, so before attaching the sensors to the plug, I advise you to carefully lay out this wire. Otherwise there may not be enough clamps))

The monitor itself is quite miniature. Made of plastic. Doesn't creak, parts fit well.

Installing the entire system took me about 15 minutes, of which I spent 10 minutes deciphering the instructions, measuring the wheel and initially setting up the system.

The next day I took it for a test drive and all the functions worked well. In sleep mode, the clock is displayed on the screen; if you insert it into the slots, the speedometer numbers appear, but after 5 minutes of inactivity, the clock appears again. The description of the device talked about 16 functions, but for me the main ones were:
-Real time speed measurement
- maximum speed indicator for one trip
- average speed indicator
- an indicator of the distance traveled per trip
- indicator of the total distance traveled (from the moment initial setup)
- Watch
There is also a measurement of calories burned and fat burned.

I also noticed the phrase water resistant on the packaging, so I decided to check it out. We would have to wait a long time for rain, it was created artificially. The computer passed the test well and didn't let a single drop in. By the way, after the photo session I got caught in the rain several times and everything was ok.

Overall, the device turned out to be very good for the money. So we can safely recommend it for purchase.

P.S. To dispel any confusion, here you go

A bicycle computer is a device that is installed on the handlebars of a bicycle and serves to display speed, distance traveled, air temperature, time, etc.

This article is a review of the SunDING SD 563B cycling computer; instructions in Russian are included in the description. Despite the fact that the gadget is made in China, it is different high quality and low price.

What it is?

This model is one of three modifications: 563A has a thermometer, 563B does not have a thermometer, 563C also does not have a thermometer, but has a wireless sensor.

Contents: cycling computer, bracket for mounting on a bicycle handlebar, magnetic sensor + magnet, set of 6 cable ties, installation and operating instructions in English.

The device has 24 functions. The features of this cycling computer include:

  1. 2" LCD display with automatic backlight. It contains four lines containing all the necessary information.
  2. Weight - 30 grams.
  3. Dimensions - 57x40x18 mm.
  4. Waterproof.
  5. Rugged housing that ensures longevity of the device.
  6. Easy to install.
  7. A special indicator that will blink when the battery is low, so you won’t experience a sudden shutdown of the device.

Functions

This computer has all the basic features needed by beginners and experienced cyclists. Let's get to know them in more detail:

  1. SPD – speedometer, shows the speed of the bicycle (max. 99.9 km/h).
  2. ODO – mileage (total distance traveled since the cycling computer started working; max 99999 km).
  3. DST – distance traveled during the trip (the indicator can be reset at any time; max. 9999 km).
  4. MAX – the highest recorded speed during the bike ride.
  5. TM is the total time spent on the road for the current trip (when the bike is stationary, the timer is paused, it only works when moving).
  6. RTM – travel time, counting from the last stop.
  7. OTM – total travel time (for all trips in total, stops are not taken into account).
  8. CLK – clock (current time).
  9. SW – stopwatch.
  10. AVS (COMPARATOR) – tracks the average speed for the trip and shows “+” if the current speed is higher, and “-” if it is lower than the average.
  11. SETTING OTM – recording the computer readings at the moment.
  12. FREEZE FRAME MEMORY – freezing the current computer readings.
  13. SCAN is a special mode that allows you to see the readings sequentially: DST – MAX – AVS – TM, each of which is held on the screen for 4 seconds.
  14. LOW-SPEED REMINDER and OVER-SPEED REMINDER - reducing and exceeding speed.
  15. TRIP DN TRIP DISTANCE DOWN and TRIP UP TRIP DISTANCE UP - countdown of the distance traveled and count forward of the same value.
  16. TM DN TRIP TIME DOWN and TM UP TRIP TIME UP - countdown travel time and count forward the same value.

Except useful functions SunDING SD has some disadvantages. At temperatures below 0 ºC, there may be a delay in displaying the readings on the screen. And if you are exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, the display may turn off for a while. If the bike computer starts showing incorrect data, you need to remove the batteries for a few seconds and put them back in.

Installation

Before use, install the computer on the steering wheel using the bracket. You can fix it in any convenient place. After this, run the wires from the handlebars along the shock-absorbing fork of the bicycle to the front wheel, and secure them with zip ties. Attach the magnetic sensor (speedometer) to this fork perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the wheel. Then pull the magnet tightly onto the spoke. Do this so that the magnet is no further than 2 mm from the sensor. Increasing this distance will lead to errors in measuring mileage parameters.

This device has two buttons: the right one is the menu button, and the left one is the selection button. After installing the battery, 4 lines will appear on the screen. You need to hold down the “Menu” button for 5 seconds. Then the line with the temperature will start flashing, use the selection button to set the desired units of measurement (degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit), select and press “Menu” again, then the time format (12/24 hour), then specify the time with the selection button. After this, we need to specify the circumference of the wheel.

To find out this value, you need to use the simple formula L=2πR where L is the circumference, π=3.14 is the number “Pi”, R is the radius of the wheel. The resulting value must be specified after setting the time on the bike computer.

Next, you need to select the units of mileage (kilometers or miles). The ODO value must be set if you know the mileage of your bicycle, then the total time spent on the road on the bicycle - RAT - is indicated. Usually the last two parameters are not set, since it is better for the countdown to start from the time of purchase of the cycling computer.

Settings

Settings general parameters displayed on the computer screen at the moment, is carried out by long pressing the right button (from the main menu), and then switching values with the left button, “accepting” the value with the right button. Display modes are changed using the central key, you can go back using the same button, but switching to the main menu occurs automatically after a few seconds of displaying a different mode.

  1. Backlight. This function is automatic; when there is sufficient lighting, the backlight turns off. To turn it on, you need to press the central key, and in order for it not to go out at all, you need to hold down the button for 10-15 seconds. You can also disable this mode.
  2. Stopwatch. You can enter stopwatch mode by pressing the right button. Starting and stopping is carried out with the left button, and zeroing/resetting with the right.
  3. TM UP/TRIPUP mode. You can go into it by pressing the center key until the inscriptions of the same name appear. This mode allows you to specify the distance and time in which you need to travel it. We hold down the right button until additional values appear, and then set these same values (time and distance). This mode relevant for professional cyclist athletes who need to train to cover a distance in a certain time.
  4. Statistical mode. To switch to this mode, you need to press the center button twice. Here you can see MAX SPD for the entire driving time, temperature, RAT - total driving time, ODO - mileage for the entire time, that is, complete statistics.
  5. Freeze Frame Memory. A mode that allows you to freeze the cycling computer readings. You can enter it by pressing the left button. The TM value will appear on the screen flashing. To exit the mode, you need to press the left button, and to switch values, press the right button.
  6. RESET. In order to reset the device readings (maximum speed, trip mileage, etc.) you need to hold down the left button for 5 seconds.

This cycling computer is perfect for amateurs and even some professionals. Setting it up doesn't require much time or effort. It's quite easy to use. Overall, an ideal representative of its class.

Although I planned to get a cycling computer, I never got around to buying it a year ago; I made do with a phone with GPS. Now I accidentally bought it, and decided to write a review for you and a little for myself, so as not to read the instructions again...

The bicycle computer arrived without a track in a simple parcel, the stated price was postal package- $2, inside the package is a branded box with a window from which the “computer” itself is visible (not visible in the photo, but the screen has a protective film):

under it there is a little white box in which:
- instructions;
- a cheap magnet with a knitting needle mount;
- 6 black screed;
- wiring, on one side of which there is a reed sensor, on the other - a mount for the bicycle computer.
The wiring does not dangle, like an enema and it is securely filled with black glue, probably this is modern epoxy.

The bike computer mount can be positioned vertically or horizontally, but on the reverse side (where screws ) double-sided tape is already glued, if you (like me) want to attach it to the steering stem, you will have to peel off this tape first. I would rate its quality as low, but there is no need for glue - this tape can be replaced with a piece of rubber.

hmm, if we then want to turn the mount, we will have to remove the ties, peel off the tape from the bike, from the mount, in order to get to screws !

Unscrew screws , rotate the mount 90 degrees and “snap” it to the holes:

then screw it in screws and put the tape back:

Click on “computer” and we get something like this:

It is removed with a slight upward movement while simultaneously lightly pressing the pipik at the bottom.

The sensor is symmetrical, maybe you know where it is in the front and where the back is, but I attached it to the front of the fork, so that if it accidentally comes into contact with the magnet when the bike moves forward, it will receive less damage. There is also thick double-sided tape there, but I haven’t started gluing it yet, because... may have to be rearranged.

Magnet inside the spoke mount:

The cycling computer itself is 6 cm diagonal (the view from below is better, perhaps the new battery will have more contrast):

The battery is not included in the package, which is good: the price is lower and a new battery will often be better than the stock one. At worst, you can pull it out of the motherboard; I pulled it out of an almost unused flashing light bought a year ago into the spokes - that’s enough for the first time, the backlight works and the low battery indicator is not yet on.
When connecting it, I bent the side contact a little - just in case for better grip.

More detailed description functions can be found in the instructions, I will describe what I have learned and, perhaps, will add to it as I study.

The buttons from left to right are called: UP (up), MODE (mode), SET (installation).

The MODE button, when pressed briefly, switches between three display modes:
- main (DISPLAY);
- (INQUIRE);
- (Up & DOWN).

Long pressing the SET button from the first two modes will allow us to set the initial values and settings.
You can change values using the UP button in a circle, and switch between changing values using the SET button. You can display:
- units temperature(my sample measures the temperature with an error of approximately +3: at 4 degrees it shows 7),
- units time,
- current time,
- wheel circumference (CIRC) - according to the table, depending on the wheel diameter and tire thickness (for my 26" wheels and 1.5" semi-slicks it is 198.5),
- units distances,
- initial value distance traveled(ODO),
- initial value total driving time(RAT).

As seen, this device measures temperature (from -10 to +50 Celsius or equivalent to Fahrenheit, unfortunately, without the possibility of calibration). If you don't ride or press any buttons, the bike computer goes into "standby mode" and displays the time.

The backlight turns on when you press the buttons in the dark (apparently there is a light sensor) or by pressing the MODE button for 3 seconds, then it goes out; If you press it for 5 seconds, the backlight will not go out until you press the MODE button again for 5 seconds.

A short press of the SET button from the first two modes will show us the stopwatch instead of the time on the second line. Start/pause - UP button, reset - SET button, MODE will hide the stopwatch, but will not stop it and you can return to it in bulk. If you remove it from the base (not ride) in stopwatch mode and do not press any buttons, the cycling computer will go into “standby mode” with the stopwatch displayed.

Also, there are functions for measuring the path and time “one way” and “the other”, they are presented in the third mode, they can be reset by long pressing the UP button, while the total driving time (RAT), total mileage (ODO) and the current time are not reset.

And this is only part of the instructions. It can also “freeze” the values on the screen, flashes something at a speed of more than 20 km/h, after 300 km it reminds you to fill up the oil, after 500 km it reminds you to carry out maintenance, shows with arrows, higher whether the current speed is average or below and may show a low battery icon.

P.S. on the package it says “SD-563 A", in the instructions - "SD-563 B».

About the purchase. It all started with the purchase of cycling shorts: I ordered some, the seller sent others, and even used some kind of postal service from Aliexpress for sending. First, I received a partial moneyback due to mismatched panties (fortunately, the size was the same, but the type of product and seams were noticeably different), and a couple of weeks later I discovered that I had a coupon from Aliexpress for a $3 discount on any purchase with an apology for the postal delay in Tallinn! The date of purchase is still visible on the screen, from which we can conclude that the goods were shipped for almost 6 weeks.

I found a review of almost the same device, the difference, perhaps, is the lack of backlighting and the design of the screen - the modes are very well described, good photos.
Another review - - with photos of the insides!

If you have installed everything, sat down, drove off, and the speed is at zero, do not rush to turn the reed switch and turn the magnet: check whether the wheel diameter is set correctly - the “CIRC” setting, after setting the time!
